Matthew Desormeaux started up Orlando Luthier to serve the Orlando and Central Florida areas needs for repairing and customizing acoustic guitars, electric guitars, basses, mandolins, dulcimers and violins.

Matthew was always fascinated with guitars. He received his first guitar at the age of 13 and immediately began tinkering with it. Pretty soon Matt was setting up guitars for all of his friends. At 19 he attended Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery (class of 2010).

After graduating from Roberto-Venn in 2010, Matt began his career at Guitar Center in Winter Park and became a major contributor to that store’s growth due to his ability to listen to clients and quickly address their desires for setting up, restoring and repairing their guitars, basses and mandolins. Matthew quickly rose among the guitar techs at Guitar Center. Matthew ranked as Guitar Center’s top 10 guitar techs annually for over 4 years.

Matthew also apprenticed with classical and Flamenco guitar builder Harold Hernandez building classical guitars in Altamonte Florida shortly after graduating from Roberto-Venn. Matthew quickly learned the art of servicing and building acoustic guitars under Harold’s tutelage.

Matthew decided to go independent in 2016 and began to take care of his clientele remotely while also assisting William Covert at Lyrical Lumber in Maitland, Florida.  Providing Lyrical Lumber clients with setups, restorations, fret work, re-finishing, and structural repair.
